Hi !
I am Laurent Castiau.
I was born in Frameries (Belgium) in 1967.
I have attended Plastic Art studies at ESAPV, Mons (Belgium), my teachers there were Michel Jamsin and Charly Vienne.
I got the school leaving certificate in 1992.
Since 1992, I have exhibited my drawings in several galleries and festivals (in Belgium and France).

I built my own website in May 2005.

About my artwork : The fantastic mood in the representations of Bosch ,the paintings from the Guernica's period by Picasso, expressionnist art, and the visions of the contemporary swiss artist Hans Ruedi Giger have inspired my old drawings. In my recent works, I try to compose surrealistic scenes where human body takes priority and where the light creates a mysterious mood.
I only draw in black and white, using charcoal on paper.
I always enjoy myself when I draw and I'm trying to develop
a new vision of drawing
.
My other artistic influences are : the art of Kirchner, Munch, Ensor, Lowe, Lavollay,..., fantastic movies (especially Brazil, Alien, Psychose), dark literature (especially Emily Brontë, Bram Stoker, Mary Shelley), heavy metal music (especially Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer) and rock music (especially Queen, Meat Loaf, Roy Orbison).
